Community Fun Day – Sunshine, Smiles, and a Whole Lot of Fun!

What a day we had! Our Community Fun Day was blessed with glorious sunshine and an atmosphere filled with laughter, music, and connection. From the very start, families, friends, and neighbours poured in, ready to enjoy a day designed for every age – from the tiniest tots to the young-at-heart.

The site was buzzing with activity. Teens tested their skills at the games zone, little ones enjoyed the colourful play areas, and everywhere you turned there was something new to see, taste, or try. The energy was contagious!

One of the afternoon’s most talked-about moments? The amazing hula hoop skills shown off by some of our local young people – they spun, twirled, and shimmied with such flair that the crowd couldn’t stop cheering. And, of course, we can’t forget the gallant efforts from some of our more ‘seasoned’ participants – young at heart if not quite as nimble in the waistline – who had us all in stitches with their determined attempts!

The rodeo horse was another star of the show. Fierce, bouncy, and unrelenting, it bucked every challenger in under 90 seconds – a true “bucking bronco” that no one could tame.

Our advice and health check stands were also a hub of community care. Huge thanks to those who provided health screenings, shared valuable information, and offered friendly encouragement to everyone who stopped by.

And, of course, no fun day is complete without food. The BBQ team delivered mouth-watering burgers, sizzling hot dogs, and Jamaican-style jerk chicken that had queues forming all afternoon. All of it was enjoyed to the uplifting soundtrack of great music gospel drifting across the site – the perfect backdrop to a summer celebration.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped on the day – from setting up, serving food, running stalls, keeping things safe, to simply lending a smile. A special shout-out to the local shops and businesses whose kind gift donations made our raffle such a hit.

The day wasn’t just about fun – it was a reflection of who we are: a caring, joyful, and united community where church, community centre and children's centre are for the community in the community.
